The two main objectives for Friends of St Marcellins Children are to support the Educational and Health and Wellbeing objectives of the orphanage.
To do this we are looking for additional funds to enhance the children’s education by providing them with e-learning opportunities and by supporting their efforts to become self sustaining by producing their own food.
To help the children, we welcome one-off donations or regular contributions to help us sponsor these initiatives. Donations can be made via Paypal or by getting in touch with us to arrange a Bank Transfer.
Education is still recognised as the key to success for most people, but getting a great education can be a challenge for many. Electronic learning is a high growth area in Africa, and it enables the possibility to offer independent and distance learning. Adopting online and electronic learning alongside our traditional classrooms is one way we are increasing opportunities for the children in the Orphanage.
St Marcellin's is lucky to have good land at the orphanage where they can grow fresh fruit and vegetables that the children eat every day. This helps us reduce the amount needed at the market to feed the orphanage and keep the children healthy. They work hard to be self sufficient, but we still need to buy seeds and supplies to help sustain these food supplies. Can you help us achieve our goal of self sufficiency?
The chicken run has proved to be a huge success at St Marcellin's. We provide funds to buys chickens, their feed and the vaccinations they require. The more chickens that St Marcellin's has, the more eggs and meat will be available for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Any eggs left over can be sold for additional income.
Chickens are a easy top manage and can be looked after by the children. They work well in the orphanage as the chicken run needs little space and we can even use their poo to make great compost in our fruit and vegetable garden.
There are many ways you can help the children of St Marcellin’s. You can volunteer time or skills to help us with fundraising events, or make a one off or regular donation. At this time donations are particularly required for setting up the new primary school (desks and chairs, books and life skills workshops), and to pay for teaching staff.
Alternatively, sign up to our email list. We will not share your personal data with any one else. See our privacy policy for more information.
All donations (with the exception of bank transfer charges) go 100% to the children’s village to support the children.
